Ford Tuning
PSP are Ford
tuning specialists, with over 11 years of Ford tuning experience, as
well as factory Ford technical training, and dealership tech
experience. We can do Ford tuning for mostly all Ford vehicles
from 96 to present. We use SCT, Diablosport, and Autologic Ford
tuning products.
Ford
devices we CAN tune for/with:
-
SCT brand
chips, SCT Xcalibrator 1, SCT Xcalibrator 2, SCT Xcalibrator 3,
SCT LiveWire
-
-
Diablosport
black revolution/CMR/Delta chips, Diablosport Predator
-
-
Autologic chips
(these are older tuning chips no longer used, but we can do
tuning on vehicles with them depending on the vehicle)
-
Ford
devices we CAN'T tune for/with:
-
Anything made
by Superchips (not SCT)
-
-
Diablosport RED
chips
-
-
Anything made
by JET, Hypertech, Sniper, or any other brand other than SCT,
Diablo, or Autologic
We can supply
you with a new chip or flash tuner if you need one.
GM
Tuning
Our GM tuning
is done with the latest software from HP Tuners, and is directly
flashed to the vehicle. We can tune all 98-up LS based vehicles
(LS1, LS2, LS7, etc). We cannot tune LT1 based cars at this time.
Since we are
SCT and Diablosport dealers, we can also get flash devices for GM
vehicles from both companies per customer request. This would
include tuners for the Duramax diesel trucks, with multiple tunes to
choose from.
Carb
Tuning
We can also do
custom tuning for carbed vehicles. We can adjust idle mixture, and
WOT jetting. Most carb motors are not very close to optimum air/fuel
ratio, and can usually benefit greatly from being checked on the
dyno for proper jetting. At this time, we only do carb tuning for
Holley based carbs, and we stock a full selection of jets and
gaskets.
Other Vehicle Tuning
We do not
currently support tuning products or software for Dodge or import
vehicles. However, if the customer has his own tuning software, we
may be able to dyno tune the vehicle using the customer's software.
Please contact us with your vehicle info and what tuning software
you have and we can check to see if we can tune with it for you.
Mail Order Tuning
PSP has extensive experience with mail order Ford tuning and has
been doing it for over 10 years. We would be happy to do a custom
chip or flash tuner via mail order for your Ford vehicle. In most
cases, it would be a good idea to get the air/fuel checked on a
chassis dyno and let us know the results, so we can see if the tune
needs adjustments. The only vehicles we won't do mail order, are
very complex combinations that we feel must be done in person.
Contact us about mail order tuning and we can let you know if we can
do your vehicle or not.
Out of State Tuning
PSP does offer out of state tuning for clubs. We can come and tune
at your local dyno shop. Generally, this requires 10-20 vehicles for
a weekend (2-3 days of tuning) for us to come out and tune. If you
are interested, drop us a line and we can discuss the details.
Dyno
and Tuning Rates
To have your
vehicle dyno tuned, your price will include BOTH the dyno rates (for
however many pulls we need to do) and the tuning rates (for however
long it takes) below. Other shops just charge a standard one price
rate for tuning. We don't like the standard rate pricing. Even
though our method may seem a little more complex, it works out
better for both us and the customer. If we charged, say a $500
standard rate, and it only took us an hour and a few pulls to tune
the vehicle, then in reality we've overcharged the customer. Other
shops don't mind this because they can rush through your tuning so
they can make more money from it. On the flip side, if we charge
$500 and we spend 6 hours and 10 pulls tuning a vehicle, then we
just lost our shirt on the job. Other shops that charge a set
rate, will rush tuning a complex vehicle so they DON'T lose money
tuning at a set rate. At PSP, our belief is you pay for the proper
job to tune your vehicle. If it takes 2 hours or 10 hours, you pay
the proper price for the proper job, and there is no reason
whatsoever for us to rush anything. We do the job right, for as
little or as long as needed.
Dyno Rates
Two pulls with
air/fuel* - $100 (unlike most other shops, we do not charge extra
for air/fuel readings!)
Each pull after
the first two (if desired) is $25 extra
Example:
5 pulls with air/fuel* (no tuning) would be $175 (100+25+25+25)
Diesel trucks
are an additional $25 surcharge (we have to hook up an optical
sensor to get a tach signal on diesels)
Optional
graphed inputs are an additional $25 surcharge (if you want us to
log boost, fuel pressure, or another analog input from your car onto
the dyno graph)
* We prefer to
check air/fuel buy putting the wide band sensor directly into the
exhaust. Usually we will remove a rear 02 sensor to do this. If your
vehicle does not have a provision for this, we can weld in a
separate bung, for a $50 fee. Naturally, this would be a one time
needed procedure, as this new bung can be used any time you bring
the vehicle in.
Tuning Rates
Ford Tuning
For 96-up Ford
Vehicles, tuning is $100 for the first hour, and $50 each additional
hour.
For 87-95 Ford
Vehicles, tuning is $100 per hour.
Ford dyno
tuning rate example: 2003 Cobra - 5 dyno pulls (100+25+25+25), 2
hours tuning (100+50), and customer requested boost graphing (25) =
$350 total tuning price.
GM Tuning
$200 for the
first hour, and $50 each additional hour.
The reason for
the higher first hour rate over Ford tuning, is because our GM
tuning is 100% software based. Ford owners must spend $300-$400 on a
tuning device (chip or flash tuner), and then get tuned. With the
direct flash tuning for GMs, there is no hardware. In the place of
hardware, GM tuning costs "credits" that allow us to tune your car.
So even though the tuning rate is higher than Ford tuning, it's
still overall cheaper to tune a GM vehicle because the customer is
not spending $400 on a flash device.
GM dyno tuning
example: 2001 Camaro - 4 pulls (100+25+25), 3 hours tuning
(200+50+50) = $450 total tuning price. Again, even though the Ford
example above shows a cheaper tuning price, the customer of that car
had to buy a $400 programmer for the flashing, bringing his actual
total tuning cost to $750.
Carb Vehicle
Tuning
$100 per hour,
plus any parts (jets, gaskets, etc)
Other Vehicle
Tuning (using customer's software)
$100 per hour
Please Note!
Please plan to
leave your vehicle with us for a few days for tuning. We do NOT do
"tuning while you wait", nor do we allow any customer to stand and
watch us while we are tuning. If you want to take a video of your
car on the dyno, we can sometimes arrange for you to come down after
we are done for an extra pull, if we have time to leave your car on
the dyno.
Club Dyno Days
We are more
than happy to host some dyno days for any local clubs. We can do
these on a Sunday if that makes things easier for the club members.
Discounted rates will apply for large groups, and those rates will
be set based on the number and type of vehicles. There is NO tuning
on dyno days, regular pulls only. Please contact us for more info.
